Kick Start Your New Year

What are you going to do right now to be sure you have the best year ever? Looking at your life, what’s the one thing that will make the difference between actually achieving your goals or ending up at year’s end with a handful of unfulfilled dreams? Inspired or deflated by the prospect of the New Year?

New Year's Inspiration?

As you consider the prospect of the 365 days ahead of you, are you energized? A little overwhelmed? Negative thoughts from the past holding you back? Want to reach farther and achieve more than you ever have before? Start small, focusing on just one thing you want to accomplish. Stumped for suggestions? Here’s a few to consider:

  • Expand your perspectives with new experiences. Commit to doing something new for thirty days each month. Some possibilities: do aerobic exercises, only tune in to positive music, verbally appreciate 10 people a day, see your goals as being complete, do five things every day that will move you toward your #1 goal, listen to motivational CDs.
  • Cultivate a bright financial future. Start a savings account, no matter how small. Commit to paying yourself first to ease your mind about the future. $20 a month, compounded over years can add up to a tidy nest egg for a rainy day.
  • Practice the One-A-Day principle. While not being able to delight everyone all the time, you can do something for someone each day. Find a friend, relative, co-worker, or customer and do something memorable. Over time, your life will also become remarkable.
  • Increase your awareness of your thought patterns. Develop an awareness of what leaves your mouth by recording whatever you say for at least an hour a day for a month. Words have power! Add inflection, intent, tonality and forcefulness to those words and they can inspire or defeat you. Your subconscious mind believes every word you say. Use it wisely.
  • Let go of using the “bad thing” label. Whenever something happens that doesn’t fit with what you want, you may tend to get disappointed. When the label of “bad thing” is stuck onto an experience, you experience it that way. But the truth is, you may never know if something unexpected is “bad” or “good.” Your perception can make all the difference in how you profit from a situation. New contacts, new avenues opening and a fresh approach can also result in more flexibility for you!

Wishing you the best New Year ever, filled with many opportunities for growth, prosperity, health, and happiness.
